... который мне, обычно, отбивает тикеты (tickets - автомобильные штрафы).
Новости, которые касаются всех, кто живет в Техасе:
We want to advise you of some of the recent changes in the law effective September 1. 2003, and how you may be affected.
1. A point system for certain traffic violations now exists, creating surcharges.
(Комментарии Вентуры: Это значит, что чем больше очков вы наберете за нарушение ПДД, тем больше будут придираться менты и повышаться - страховка)
2. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) with a passenger under 15 years old is a felony, punishable from 6 months to 2 years in state jail.
3. DWI's now carry additional surcharges ranging from $3,000 to $6,000.
4. Holders of a commercial driver's license (CDL) can no longer get deferred adjudication (also called deferred disposition) or defensive driving (driver's safety course), even if driving a personal car or truck.
5. Failure to pay surcharges within 30 days will result in a license suspension.
Soon there will be many more unlicensed and uninsured drivers due to unpaid surcharges. It is therefore now even more important that you review your own automobile insurance to make sure that you have plenty of uninsured motorist coverage (UM).
(Комментарии Вентуры: Советую всем пересмотреть свою страховку. Uninsured motorist - хорошая вещь. Пару раз уже экономила мне деньги, причем, даже по моей вине. Тем более, она поможет с кучей мексов и малолеток, без прав, с которыми вы можете попасть в аварию. Разница доплаты невелика - порядка 10-40 долларов)
While you are at it, make sure that you have personal injury protection (PIP) as well.
PIP reimburses you for medical and lost wages caused by an accident. PIP can be collected in addition to private health insurance coverage
This additional coverage is not that expensive. PIP and UM claims should not result in a rate increase since they are not based on your fault. Claims for PIP must be made within 3 years, and within 4 years for a UM claim. If you already had either type of coverage at the time of an accident, make sure that you are not missing out on possible benefits.
(Комментарии Вентуры: PIP особенно критична, когда у вас нет своей хорошей медицинской страховки. Если есть - то еще раз просмотрите ее условия. Может быть так, что PIP покроет то, что она не прокрывает. Опять же - PIP - это 10-20 долларов доплаты. Но выручит она вас серьезно.)
Еще. Не забывайте, что у нас вступил в силу закон, штрафующий пользователей сотовых телефонов во время движения авто. Исключение касается только тех, кто пользуется headsets/earpiece.
